choose well

W zeszłym miesiącu poszłam na koncert pod hasłem "Punk's not dead" i miałam przyjemność zapoznać się z niemieckim zespołem Dritte Wahl, który koncertował po Polsce wraz z naszymi Farben Lehre. Myślałam, że będzie to jakiś mało znany zespół z Niemiec, tymczasem zaskoczyli mnie swoim profesjonalizmem, głębokim apolitycznym przekazem (co jest dla mnie niezwykle ważne w punku) i niezwykłymi kreacjami scenicznymi (tu ukłony przede wszystkim dla basisty, przywodzącego mi na myśl Tilla Lindemanna z Rammstein). Byłam na tyle zachwycona występem tego zespołu, że gdy natknęłam się na wokalistę w korytarzu, nie omieszkałam poklepać go po klacie gratulując wspaniałego przedstawienia :)
Po powrocie do domu zaczęłam szukać informacji na temat Dritte Wahl i zapoznawać się z muzyką - mój wybór padł na wydany w 2005 roku album "Fortschritt", choć jak się okazało, zespół ma na koncie 9 albumów studyjnych i działa od 1988 roku. Zostałam więc znowu pozytywnie zaskoczona, gdyż wyszło na to, że przyjechał do nas zespół nie byle jaki :)
Panowie z Rostocku grają od ponad 20 lat razem, i choć zespół przechodził kilka trudnych chwil (jak na przykład śmierć lidera w rzeczonym 2005 roku na raka żołądka, czy wcześniej opuszczenie zespołu przez basistę Holma w 1991.) wciąż świetnie dają radę zarówno na scenie jak i tworząc nowe płyty - oprócz studyjnych LP mają na koncie 6 płyt live i "best of". Obecny skład zespołu to Gunnar na gitarze i wokalu, Stefan na basie (mój ulubieniec, cieszę się że dołączył do zespołu) i Jörn na perkusji. Mimo iż tylko we trzech, potrafią wywołać niesamowitą energię na koncertach, a ich płyty przypominają mi atmosferę koncertu, na którym ich poznałam. Mam nadzieję, że zawitają do nas jeszcze kiedyś - na pewno się wybiorę.


Last month I attended a concert under the title "Punk's not dead" and I got familiar with the german band Dritte Wahl, which was on Poland-tour with our Farben Lehre. I thought it's gonna be some less-known band from Germany, but I got very surprised with their professionalism, deep anti-political texts (which are very important for me in punk music) and awesome on-stage performances (I strongly alute to the bass-player, who reminds me so much of Till Lindemann from Rammstein). I was so delighted with their performance, that when I met the frontman in the corridor I had to pat him on the chest and congratulate on the awesome concert :)
When I got home I started looking for some info regarding Dritte Wahl and getting familiar with their music - I started with the 2005 album "Fortschritt", even though it came out they already have 9 studio albums and are active since 1988. I got positively suprised again, it shows we had a reallt good band playing in our city :)
The gentlemen from Rostock are playing together for over 20 years, and even though they were going through some tough times (like for example, the frontman's death in 2005 caused by stomach cancer, or the bassist Holm leaving the band in 1991), they're still in pretty well condition either on stage aswell as on the albums - aside from the studio LP's, they have recorded 6 live or "best of" albums. The current members of the band are Gunnar (guitar and vocals), Stefan on bass (my favourite, I'm really glad he joined the band) and Jörn on drums. Even though they're only three, they're able to bring out amazing power on the concerts, and the albums remind me of the atmosphere of the concert I got to know them. I hope they will come to our city some time again - I'm definitely going to be there.
